Fake Insurance Plans in Oregon

As an agency that is concerned that our clients and general public have access to accurate information about the health and dental insurance options that are available, we have decided to provide some help in understanding what is available and what is not. Every day we see emails ariving that say "Finally, Affordable Health Insurance for your Entire Family for only $49.95/month!" or something similar to that. The simple fact of the matter is that there is no "health insurance" that would cover an entire family for that price. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is...

There are some real products that are very inexpensive, but they are NOT insurance products. They are DISCOUNT products that give you access to the network provider re-billing prices. They require that you only use providers on their provider list, and it is a standard requirement that you pay in full the total bill at the time of service. These programs pay NOTHING... In some cases, they can be a good value, but should never be considered as a replacement for insurance.

The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services web site has information on this topic. We suggest that you visit that site and see for yourself.
